Gardens by the Bay sits at the edge of Marina Bay, 5 minutes from the CBD, and delivers a Singapore experience that nothing in the financial district can — 101 hectares of waterfront garden with the Marina Bay skyline as a backdrop, two world-class cooled conservatories, and the Supertree Grove light show that has become one of Singapore’s defining images. For overseas clients, it consistently ranks as the most memorable Singapore experience of a business visit.
The hosting question is not whether to include it, but when and how to use it most effectively.
The Garden Rhapsody show at Supertree Grove is the centrepiece of an evening visit. The 18 Supertrees — steel tree structures ranging from 25 to 50 metres tall, covered in tropical plants — are illuminated and set to music for approximately 10 minutes, twice nightly. The effect is considerably more impressive in person than in photographs, which tend to flatten the scale.
The optimal hosting programme: arrive at the Supertree Grove at 7:15pm for the 7:45pm show. Walk the elevated OCBC Skyway between the Supertrees before the show if time allows (tickets required, SGD $14). Watch the show from the grove floor for the best audio and visual experience. Proceed to dinner by 9pm — either within the Gardens or at the Marina Bay waterfront, 10 minutes on foot from the grove.
On a weekday evening, the grove is comfortable and the atmosphere is right for a client experience. On a weekend, the crowd density can undermine the experience — book weekday visits wherever the programme allows.
For a daytime visit or for clients who want more than the evening programme, the two cooled conservatories add depth to the Gardens experience. The Cloud Forest — the indoor mountain with the 35-metre waterfall — is the more dramatic of the two. The walkway around the mountain provides an immersive highland environment completely disconnected from Singapore’s outdoor heat.
The Flower Dome is the world’s largest glass greenhouse, housing plants from Mediterranean and semi-arid climates in a cool, dry environment. The seasonal floral displays change throughout the year and are consistently of exhibition standard. For a client who has a genuine interest in horticulture or garden design, the Flower Dome warrants its own 45-minute visit.
Conservatory tickets are sold separately from general Gardens entry (which is free). Combined tickets are available at the visitor centre or online.
For a fuller Marina Bay evening programme, Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands are connected by a 10-minute waterfront walk along the Bay South promenade. The Supertree show at 7:45pm, followed by the walk to MBS for the Spectra waterfront show at 9pm, followed by dinner at MBS — gives a client the two signature Singapore experiences of the Marina Bay circuit in one evening without any vehicle movement between them.

Arriving at the Supertree Grove around 7:15pm allows a pre-show walk through the grove in the early evening light before the show begins. This timing also works naturally with a post-show dinner — either at Pollen within the Gardens or at one of the Marina Bay waterfront restaurants a 10-minute walk away. Weekday evenings are significantly less crowded than weekends.
Pollen by Jason Atherton (inside the Flower Dome conservatory) was the Gardens' most acclaimed dining option. Check current restaurant status as it has changed operators — the Flower Dome setting remains one of Singapore's most distinctive dining environments. For a more accessible option, Satay by the Bay on the waterfront promenade offers an outdoor hawker experience that international clients often find more authentically Singaporean than a hotel restaurant. The Bay South Garden waterfront also has several casual restaurant options with direct views of the Marina Bay skyline.
The Cloud Forest is one of two cooled conservatories at Gardens by the Bay (the other being the Flower Dome). It houses a 35-metre indoor mountain covered in tropical highland plants, with a waterfall cascading from the summit. The interior is kept at 23 to 25 degrees — a welcome contrast to Singapore's outdoor humidity. The Cloud Forest walkway spirals around the mountain and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete at a comfortable pace. Tickets are required (SGD $28 for adults as of 2026).
Gardens by the Bay is located at Marina Gardens Drive, approximately 5 to 10 minutes from Raffles Place by private vehicle. The main entrance is at the Bay South Garden visitor centre. Vehicle drop-off at the main entrance is straightforward for private hire. The driver can stage in the car park during the visit or return at a confirmed time.
